I helped lead digital design for the main stage presentations at Google I/O—Google’s largest and most high-profile experiential marketing event of the year.

Google I/O is Google’s biggest live annual event, where the company announces its latest advancements across all core product areas. In May 2022, Google I/O returned to the Shoreline Amphitheatre for a live audience for the first time in two years.

Google IO 2022’s focus was on investments in advanced technologies with the goal of organizing the world’s information and making it universally accessible and useful. Key announcements included more natural conversations with Google Assistant, an immersive view in Google Maps, and improved skin tone representation across Google’s products.

The Google I/O 2022 visual identity was inspired by World Expos, which historically represented a hopeful vision of the near future.

To replicate the culmination of cultural leaders, thinkers, and innovators exchanging ideas, our internal design team partnered with &Walsh to develop a visual system that drew inspiration from scientific concepts and pavilion architecture.

The event identity embraced a daring and bold vision of the future, utilizing modern, graphic, and expressive forms. Illustrative imagery leveraged Google’s primary color palette to create a distinct and memorable brand expression for the event.

I designed, animated, and art-directed sections of the main stage presentations, including:
