Paypal’s Pay in 4: Why It Makes Good Business Sense

2021

Millenials have less purchasing power on average to buy large ticket items, a fact that’s only been further compounded by the negative financial impact of the pandemic. In order to help folks purchase important high ticket items, PayPal’s Pay in 4 offers the ability to extend customer purchasing power.

PayPal approached T Brand to create a program illustrated the positive impact of PayPal’s Pay in 4 product, through its ability to extend customer purchasing power. The product offers enterprise businesses a seamless way to meet exploding demand among consumers for Buy Now, Pay Later options, while also providing businesses with additional revenue streams, broader customer bases, and higher purchase completion rates.

As art director of the program, my role was to develop the visual strategy of the campaign. Through the use creation of original editorial and custom illustration, we produced a 5-panel FlexXL Mini Story to  meet readers where they are in-stream, creating an immersive and engaging reader experience.

Art Direction

The goal of the visual strategy was to communicate the added value for enterprise businesses of offering PayPal’s Pay in 4 spending option. We comissioned illustrations with a bright, vibrant style to reflect on the consumer joy, opportunity, discovery and confidence this option can bring.

We comissioned illustrator Ana Glavan to visualize the variety of use-cases for businesses and customers, over-indexing for fashion, electronics, and retail industries. The final product featured bold color, expressive shape language, and emotive human figures. A bright and energetic color pallet heroes PayPal brand colors of blue and gold, while playing with complementary supporting colors. Blue and gold anchor the main pallet, while pink, green, and purple add interest and contrast.
