I helped lead digital design for the main stage presentations for Google I/O— Google’s largest and highest profile experiential marketing event of the year.

Google I/O is Google's largest live annual event, where the company announces its newest updates across all of its core product areas. In May 2022, Google I/O returned to the Shoreline Amphitheatre for a live audience for the first time in 2 years.

The year’s focus was to announce investments in advanced technologies such as AI and technical infrastructure, with the goal to help organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful—like more natural conversations with Google Assistant, an immersive view in Maps and improved skin tone representation across our products.

I/O 22’s visual identity was inspired by the concept of World Expos which had historically represented a hopeful, near future for humanity.

To replicate the culmination of cultural leaders, thinkers, and innovators who come together to exchange ideas, our internal design team partnered with &Walsh to create a visual system that took inspiration from scientific concepts and the pavillion architecture.

The event identity leaned into a daring and bold vision of the future by utilizing modern, graphic, and expressive form. Illustrative imagery utilized a Google primary color pallete to create a unique brand expression for this event.

I designed, animated, and art directed sections of the main stage presentations including Brian Rakowski’s keynote address for Devices and Services and the computing section for Sundar Pachi.

This project was produced at Google with an international team of designers, animators, and producers.
