The Burnout Effect

Editorial, Special Package

2020

“We are not one-woman factories nor are we theater for others. We’re human.”

The Burnout Effect is a special package that Acknowledges the perpetual grind and exhaustion of productivity and performance.  The Burnout Effect encourages its audience to pour into themselves before pouring into others.

A four-part, advice-driven guide for women of color to honor themselves first, we investigate the emotional impact from pressures to perform and produce in an already chaotic world.

Visual Direction

The art direction team developed and produced a visual strategy to complement the goals of the editorial package. We commissioned illustrator Dani Pendergast to create artwork that tapped into the struggle of exhaustion and burnout, while at the same time provide the outlet for support, relief, and giving ourselves grace.

“We are not one-woman factories nor are we theater for others. We’re human. We hope you are heartened by this package and find ways to honor yourself a little more because you deserve it.”
